Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has been verified as a Level 1 children’s surgery center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children’s Verification Program. This means that our hospital possesses the necessary resources to meet pediatric patients’ surgical needs and is committed to the highest level of care for all children when they need it most. This distinction makes our hospital one of the only three Level 1 children’s surgery centers in all of California.

Our same-day surgery center focuses on providing our surgical services in a professional and efficient manner, allowing for short visits for families and relaxed recovery at home. Our revitalized space groups all services—presurgery consulting, operating rooms, postsurgery recovery, lab, and imagery—in one location so that you are always just steps from your child’s bedside. It’s state-of-the art surgical care, delivered safely and efficiently.

From start to finish, we make sure your visit at the OSC runs smoothly. We invite you to use our valet parking services, and we escort you from the main door to the OSC. Our waiting room is removed from the bustle of the larger hospital for added privacy and calm. A bright, inviting play area awaits your child. By using educational materials, medical equipment, teaching dolls, and more, our Child Life team is available to alleviate fear and anxiety for children and teens during surgical procedures.

Our aim is to keep your visit moving at a quick pace with little to no waiting time. We have multiple consulting rooms, higher staff-to-patient ratios, and more predictable surgery times than in our larger operating rooms. While your child is in surgery, our pharmacy team delivers prescriptions to you to ensure an efficient checkout process.
