Conditions We Treat in Female Athletes

Treating a variety of sports-related conditions, including:

  • Amenorrhea (lack of menstrual periods).
  • Avulsion fractures—when a small piece of bone attached to a ligament or tendon is pulled away from the rest of the bone.
  • Disordered eating, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.
  • Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)— when extra bone grows along one or both of the bones that form the hip joint, causing the bones to rub against each other.
  • Hip dysplasia.
  • Knee injuries.
  • Low bone density.
  • Overuse/overtraining.
  • Shoulder instability.
  • Snapping hip.
  • Spondylolysis (a stress fracture of the bone that connects two vertebrae).
  • Sports-related concussions and sport safety.
  • Stress fractures.
