Eating Disorders Outpatient

The Eating Disorders Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient medical and psychiatric evaluation, treatment and follow-up for children and teenagers with eating disorders including:

  • Anorexia nervosa 
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
  • Other eating disorders, including Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs)

The clinic is a part of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital's Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program.

Outpatient treatment options include:

  • Medical management to prevent, detect and treat complications
  • Nutritional assessment and management
  • Growth and development evaluation
  • Assessment and management of osteopenia and osteoporosis
  • Psychiatric medication evaluation and monitoring (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry)
  • Psychotherapy for eating disorders (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry)
    • Family-based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders
    • Adolescent Focused Therapy (AFT) for eating disorders
    • Cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders (CBT-ED)
    • Interpersonal therapy (IPT) for eating disorders
