Chaplain Paul Andrews, MDiv, BCC, is the manager of Spiritual Care Services at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. With board certification (BCC) from the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) and endorsements from both the Southern Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board, he brings a rich foundation of faith and service to his role.
Chaplain Paul’s background includes Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Stanford Health Care (SHC), equipping him with the skills to address complex spiritual needs in health care. His work emphasizes holistic care, offering empathetic and effective support to patients, families, and staff.
As manager, Paul leads the Spiritual Care Services team with a vision of collaboration and healing. His leadership fosters a nurturing environment that encourages hope and meaningful connections within the Stanford Children’s community.
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant Chaplain. Reverend Scotty is board certified (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains and completed his Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) residency at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Scotty has been part of our healing community since 2004 and has several years of experience in supporting critical care patients. He holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Spiritual Direction certificate from Mercy Center, Burlingame. Scotty is ordained and endorsed by the United Church of Christ (UCC).
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Chaplain and Adolescent Comprehensive Care Unit Chaplain. Reverend Wally joined Stanford Medicine Children’s Health in 2013 after completing a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) residency at Stanford Health Care. Wally earned a Master of Divinity from Berkeley School of Theology and is ordained by the American Baptist Churches USA.
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Chaplain. Reverend Sookja (she/her) joined our team of chaplains in 2021 after working as a hospice chaplain. Rev. Sookja is board certified (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains. She completed her Clinical Pastoral education at Stanford Health Care. Rev. Sookja is endorsed and ordained by the Presbyterian Church of USA (PCUSA), with a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. She has a certificate in interdisciplinary palliative care.
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and Pediatric Care Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) Chaplain. Father Randy is a Roman Catholic priest ordained and endorsed in the Diocese of San Jose, California. He holds a Doctor of Ministry and a Doctor of Theology in Spiritual Care from Capstone University; a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology from St. Patrick’s Seminary and University; and a Pontifical Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University. He also earned a Master of Arts in Spirituality and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministries from Santa Clara University. He is a board-certified chaplain with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and is a Certified Grief Informed Professional. He is Qualified Bilingual Staff (QBS) in Tagalog.
Johnson Center with Maternity, Labor and Delivery, Intermediate Care Nursery Chaplain. Reverend Matt holds a Master of Divinity from Corban University School of Ministry. He completed 4 units of CPE at UCSF Medical Center and 1 unit at Madigan Army Medical Center. He is ordained and endorsed as a chaplain by Converge and is board certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains.
Chaplain Catherine supports our hospital community as a relief chaplain and holds a doctorate in psychology and cross-cultural studies and is also an adjunct professor at the undergraduate/graduate Levels. A student of Soto Zen Buddhism (Endorsed) and Christianity, she holds an inclusive interfaith perspective. Catherine has a certificate in Contemplative Spiritual Care and completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Sequoia Hospital–Dignity Health, including a fifth unit at Sutter Health CPMC, San Francisco, in the ICU. She was awarded and completed the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Pediatric Chaplaincy Fellowship at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, with BCC board certification underway.
Chaplain Wendy Welborn currently supports our hospital community as a relief chaplain and is a licensed Religious Science practitioner and an endorsed chaplain for Centers for Spiritual Living. She recently completed her certificate in Spiritual Direction and Formation from San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) and is a member of Spiritual Directors International. She received her Master of Divinity from SFTS. She has worked in hospital and hospice chaplaincy. She completed a year of residency at UCSF, where she integrated trauma-informed care with empathetic listening to support all patients, families, and staff.
Benji Bonnet is a relief health care chaplain. He is Muslim and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary, where he studied Islam and interreligious engagement with a concentration in chaplaincy. He completed a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and remained with the department after graduation. Before his residency, he completed CPE units at Phelps Hospital and McLean Hospital, the latter with a focus on mental health chaplaincy. He is endorsed by Muslims for Progressive Values.
Rev. Jaeguen “Jae” Lee is a relief chaplain and ordained Presbyterian minister (PCUSA) dedicated to providing holistic spiritual care. He earned both his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in South Korea, and continued his advanced theological studies in the United States at the Graduate Theological Union and Boston University.
Rev. Lee brings a meaningful blend of pastoral leadership, theological scholarship, and clinical experience. He completed his clinical training through the Clinical Pastoral Education Chaplain Residency at Stanford Health Care Spiritual Services.
He is deeply honored to join the Spiritual Care team at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, where he looks forward to offering compassionate, multifaith emotional and spiritual support to young patients and their families.
