Pediatrics
“I love to see children growing and blossoming into their true selves.”
I felt a calling to be a pediatrician because all aspects of it appealed to me—I love to encourage choices for a lifetime of health and have important parenting discussions. I also enjoy solving the intriguing puzzle of a symptom.
I try to make visits to the pediatrician as fun as possible. Many parents tell me that their children pretend they are “Dr. Gerwein” and examine their ears. I also try to encourage families to pay attention to healthy choices for their children, so they are less likely to get sick.
I don’t use antibiotics or other medicines unless they are truly needed, but instead try to watch carefully and let the body heal itself whenever it can. I love to see children growing and blossoming into their true selves. It’s an honor to be able to make a difference in optimizing their health and vitality.
