Otolaryngology
I have always enjoyed science and working with my hands, so going into medicine came naturally to me. Being a surgeon gives me a way to help people, and I fell in love with pediatric otolaryngology because being around kids makes me happy.
As a child, I had multiple surgeries; some of those experiences were amazing and some not so good. Having that history has shaped the type of physician I am. I have seen firsthand how an empathetic physician positively impacts a patient. So, I strive to carry that forward, and I treat my patients with the same empathy that was so valuable to me as a child.
The first thing I do is try to find a common ground with my patients. To see where they are coming from, what their biggest concerns are, and center on meeting their goals. Being able to follow kids over time and make a difference in their lives keeps me motivated.
