“I enjoy working with patients and explaining to them what we are seeing.”

My Approach

I went into medicine because I wanted to make an impact in people's lives. I chose radiology because it often operates at that point where we discover the diagnosis. If the news is reassuring, it's nice to be the one to view the images and relay that news to patients, parents, and the care team. If we find out something is wrong, we can help move the process forward so the patients can get the treatment they need as soon as possible.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the interaction with patients, families, and the care team. I love it when our colleagues come to review images with us. It is very gratifying to explain what we are seeing to patients and families. And it is even more rewarding when we can improve our processes and decrease radiation doses so that patients, families, and referring clinicians get results more quickly, more reliably, more safely, and with more accuracy.
