The Children’s Home Pharmacy at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health specializes in caring for children with complex needs. Together with our families, we are changing the lives of children today, while influencing care into tomorrow.

Since 1992, we have provided full-service, exemplary care to children who require home infusion therapies, parenteral nutrition, enteral therapy (liquid nutritional supplement), and injectable therapies (e.g., hemophilia factor) due to disease or illness. Our pediatric-trained pharmacists and certified staff provide plan-of-care management, as well as medication dispensing and distribution for patients throughout California. With unique hospital-to-home training, we empower families to care for their children and partner with them to achieve optimal results.

Program highlights include:

  • Specialize in caring for children with highly complex and unique needs. Our on-site compounding lab produces custom formulas and medicines tailored specifically for your child. Having the lab on-site results in integrated care, optimal safety oversight, and quick turnarounds.
  • Provide the very latest therapies with impressive results. Our pharmacy follows federal specifications and best practices as outlined by ASPEN and as a federally granted Hemophilia Treatment Center.
  • Collaborate extensively to ensure continuity of care. We work closely with your child’s care providers (doctors, home health nurses) and insurers for continuity of care, serving as a liaison to ensure that prescriptions are up-to-date and available, coordinating in-person visits for family ease, and checking in with you weekly for coordination.
  • Conduct clinical trials as an academic center. We guide improvements in patient care by bringing novel and leading-edge products to children quickly.
  • Fast and accurate deliveries. We have the capacity to ensure same day delivery within our region and overnight mail delivery outside our region with our unique courier service.
  • Empower families to provide care at home. We promote a better quality of life via extensive, personalized hands-on training for parents by nurses with specialized training and certifications in nutrition support. We follow up with 24/7 access to on-call pediatric-trained pharmacists and consistent, compassionate coordinators who develop close relationships with you and your family.
  • Serve as a training site for pharmacy postgraduate students. Our team trains doctoral students of pharmacy who are focusing on pediatrics.
