The Day Pass Program offers House amenities to even more families of critically ill children by offering services during designated hours to families not currently staying at the House. All Day Pass participants must register upon their arrival at the House. A volunteer will provide a brief tour of the facilities and answer any questions. As some of our House residents have compromised immunity, all visitors must be in good health and free of symptoms such as sore throat, fever, cough, runny nose, etc.
Day pass hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Amenities included with a day pass are: use of the family kitchen and community pantry, free laundry facilities, supervised playrooms, a teen lounge, family activities, exercise room, shower facilities, free parking and a shuttle.
The Happy Wheels hospitality cart serves children and families at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Families at the hospital, including siblings, often wait long hours or even days without being able to leave the hospital or even their child’s bedside. Happy Wheels volunteers move throughout the hospital and offer items such as toiletries, drinks, snacks, books, and age-appropriate activities and toys to patients, siblings, and their caregivers.
