Gastroenterology
“My patients are more than just their condition.”
I love pediatric patients; they're fun and full of energy. I am inspired by knowing that helping them will influence their lives in the long run. Gastroenterology called to me as a specialty because I've always loved nutrition: the ability to heal through what we eat, and how much nutrition impacts our bodies, our lives, and our health.
My patients are more than just their condition. For example, when we are managing celiac disease or eosinophilic esophagitis, we must also think about the tools that we need to help these children maintain social relationships. I want all of my patients to feel intact psychologically and not feel different, as well as be able to advocate for themselves, which is not always easy for a young person. I like to focus my approach on keeping our patients in the best state as a whole.
The best part of my job is being with my patients and their families, watching them feel better and seeing improvements in their nutritional status or in their energy level because they've impacted their health with our help to make them stronger and healthier.
